Membership of the group is open to all historical societies in the eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria, which approximately stretches from Boroondara eastward to Marysville to Monash in the south to Nillumbik in the north.

Whitehorse Council, libraries, local historical groups, community groups and the Whitehorse community will come together in celebration of Heritage Week in Whitehorse between September 10-19.  The theme of Heritage Week in Whitehorse is A Suburban Dream – the 1950s. Welcome the Balwyn Historical Society Inc. as the newest member of the Association of Eastern Historical Societies Inc.  The Balwyn Historical Society was formed in mid 2008 to foster appreciation of the local history of the Balwyn area, comprising Balwyn and the areas of Deepdene, North Balwyn and Greythorn.  The Society has achieved much in the short time since its formation thanks to the efforts of President Bill Pritchard and the committee.  Visit their website for more information about Melbourne's newest historical Society.  More...
